Here is a summary of this open day session

This session, hosted by Jessica Rose, the founder of Jewellers Academy, provided an overview of the one-year Jewellery Business Academy group training and mentoring program, designed is for anyone looking to start or grow a jewellery business. The next intake starts on 5th January 2026 and the deadline to join is 18th January 2026.

Program Philosophy and Structure

  • Goal: To support participants in growing a profitable jewellery business by taking action to increase sales, gain more customers, and achieve greater clarity.

  • Community: The program emphasises community and peer support, acknowledging that knowledge alone is not enough; encouragement, accountability, and a supportive team are essential for the long journey of a business, which can take 3 to 5 years (or 7 to 10 for fine jewellery businesses) to become a full-time income.

  • Sustainability: A key focus is on building a sustainable business without burnout, which includes looking after oneself, taking breaks, and operating in line with your personal values.

  • Who is it for?: The JBA is open to jewellers at all stages of their business, from those who have not yet started to those who have been running a business for 20 years or more.

  • Commitment: The recommended minimum time commitment is 2 hours per week.

  • Tracks: The program includes a Starter Jewellery Business track for those beginning and a Growth Jewellery Business track for those looking to build things further.

  • Business Growth Plan: Participants will work on a Jewellery Business Growth Plan throughout the year, a document that becomes a personalised manual and physical takeaway from the course.

Monthly Themes

The year-long program is structured around monthly themes, designed to dedicate a full 30 days to work on one key area for real progress.

Support Provided

The program offers a high level of support, ensuring participants are never alone on their journey:

  • Pre-recorded Videos: Content is professionally filmed with Jess and a team of jewellers and mentors, filmed on location.

  • Jewellery Business Growth Plan: A working document/manual to solidify learning and guide business operations.

  • One-to-One Jewellery Business Mentoring: On a topic of your choice, we will match you with a mentor

  • Monthly Group Mentoring Calls: To help you stay accountable and supported

  • Community: An environment of support and encouragement, based on the belief in "community over competition."

  • Private Facebook Community

Here are the questions asked at the end of the open day session

1. Signing Up While Still Doing the Silver Diploma

  • Question: Is it too soon to sign up for the course when I've only just started the Diploma in Silver Jewellery this year and am not yet making a lot of pieces ready to sell?

  • Answer: While it's normally recommended to complete the Diploma first, it is possible to do both simultaneously if you have enough spare time (the Diploma is 7 hours/week, and this course is a minimum of 2 hours/week, recommended 3-4). It's acceptable not to be making many pieces to sell; the key is that the experience is manageable. The course will be offered in the future if it feels like too much to fit in now.

2. Support for Social Media Beginners

  • Question: I'm new to social media and don't have Instagram or Facebook accounts. Is there support for people who are nervous about this?

  • Answer: Yes, absolutely. The "start and growth tracks" are designed to guide beginners from the very beginning.

3. Meeting Times for Full-Time Workers/different time zones

  • Question: Are the meetings and calls done outside of business hours for those working full-time?

  • Answer: Yes. There is a mixture of call times, including some evenings and daytimes. We have students from all over the world so we ensure we have different times of the day available. We send out a questionnaire to check availability, and replays of the calls are also provided.

4. Early Access to Resources (Terms & Conditions)

  • Question: If I want to get my website up before June, will resources like terms and conditions be available earlier?

  • Answer: The content is typically released monthly to avoid overwhelming participants, but if you need something, you should ask for it. For terms and conditions, it is suggested to use a platform like Etsy as a temporary measure. Their terms are standard and easy to copy, paste, and adjust with your business name. They encourage getting the website up and running as soon as possible.

5. Weekly Time Investment

  • Question: How much time must I invest per week on the course?

  • Answer: The minimum recommended investment is 2 hours a week to get the most out of the course. The total time can be flexible and depends on how deep you want to dive into certain topics each month.
