Information for podcast guests

Thanks so much for agreeing to be interviewed for the Jewellers Academy podcast. Here is some information for you and some faqs.

How we record the episode

The episode is recorded over Riverside and we will send you a link to this that you will need to click on to join. It is very similar to Zoom. Please allow an hour for the recording. We normally spend the first 10-15 minutes chatting about what to cover before we start recording so that we can get to know you a bit more and we can discuss the questions and an angle for the show.

There are a few technical things for you to note:

• please try to ensure the room is as quiet as you can get it! Heaters and air conditioners can cause background noise

• switch off any notifications that could make a noise

• if possible, please wear headphones/have headphones available for the recording. This helps prevent any echo on the audio

• an internet speed of 5 megabits per second or higher is optimal for recording. You can check your speed by googling internet speed test and running that if you aren't sure. If you know your internet isn’t that great do let us know!

• close down other applications, web browsers and tabs in your browser as this can affect the processor of your computer

• Riverside works with Google Chrome and having the most up-to-date version of this is the best way to have a smooth interview

• If you want to join from your phone, there is a Riverside IOS app

• the podcast is edited by our podcast editor and is not broadcast live so don’t worry if you make any mistakes or have any pauses!

Audio and video

The podcast is shared as audio and also as video on our podcast YouTube channel. Unlike Zoom, Riverside does not have filters. We do suggest considering your background - if you’re a jeweller then at your bench is good but not required. Having a light on in the room and filming with your face in natural light is helpful.

Promotion for you

In the week of your recording please email the following for the website and promotion of the episode to contact@jewellersacademy.com

• A head shot of you

• A photo of your jewellery/something that represents what you do

• A short paragraph about you and your business

• Any links you would like to share e.g. website, social media etc

We will let you know when your episode is due to be published and will send you links to promote and images that you can use.
