DECORaTIVE COLLETS WITH ANELIA KUPRINA

LIVE SUPPORT Q&A SUPPORT WITH ANELIA KUPRINA: OCTOBER - DECEMBER 2026

Start date: October 2026

Make your settings as beautiful as the gemstones they hold. Learn from expert goldsmith Anelia Kuprina to explore decorative pierced collets, from precise geometric patterns and flowing floral and organic designs.

Create a hexagon gemstone ring with a geometric pierced collet, decorative marquise earrings and a pendant with a domed, pierced setting.

What you’ll learn

Anelia will guide you through:

Working with templates to mark out designs on flat, tapered and domed surfaces.
Piercing intricate patterns to create decorative detail in your settings.
Scoring, shaping and soldering collets to fit large and unusually shaped stones.
Setting a hexagon gemstone and refining the finished mount.
Applying these techniques to rings, earrings and pendants, with different design templates to explore.

Is this masterclass right for you?

You should already be confident in collet setting round and shaped stones, including oval and pear shapes. This advanced masterclass builds on those skills, focusing on decorative collet construction rather than introducing the basics of collet setting.

FISHTAIL SETTING WITH SCOTT MCINTYRE

LIVE Q&A SUPPORT WITH SCOTT MCINTYRE: FEBRUARY - APRIL 2027

Explore the precision and detail of fishtail setting with master stone setter Scott McIntyre. Named for its decorative side profile that resembles a fish tail, this technique is a beautiful setting to showcase a row of gorgeous gemstones.

Create a five-stone bar necklace and a circular pendant combining collet and fishtail settings.

What you’ll learn

Scott will guide you through:

Preparing your metal and choosing the right dimensions for your settings.
Accurately marking, drilling and cutting seats for your stones.
Creating the distinctive fishtail detail along the sides.
Working by hand with a pendant motor, setting tools and gravers.
Arranging and setting stones around a central collet.

Is this masterclass right for you?

You should already have some experience of pavé setting before beginning this course.

TIARA WEDDING RINGs WITH APRIL DACE

LIVE Q&A SUPPORT WITH APRIL DACE: APRIL- JUNE 2027

A tiara wedding ring is one that is stone set and shaped around another stone, typically an engagement ring. This is a fantastic skill to master for advanced jewellers.

Learn how to create beautiful tiara wedding rings with expert goldsmith April Dace. Explore both claw and collet settings, and learn how to shape a wedding band to sit around an engagement ring.

Create a five-stone claw set tiara wedding band and a three-stone collet set tiara wedding band.

What you’ll learn

April will guide you through:

Selecting suitable stones and planning your design.
Measuring and shaping the band, including adapting it to fit around another ring.
Milling out the band and creating seats for your settings.
Soldering the components with precision.
Setting your gemstones using both claw and collet settings.

Is this masterclass right for you?

This is the most complex of the three masterclasses. You should already be confident with claw setting, complex soldering involving multiple joins, and working with magnification. You should also be able to make a three-claw ring from scratch.

As soon as you enrol, you’ll have access to the video lessons for Decorative Collets, Fishtail Setting and Tiara Wedding Rings, plus recordings of previous mentor support calls.

We are professionals in online training for jewellers

Having run online programmes for jewellers for over 10 years, we are world-class leaders in this type of training. This is a cohort-based style learning in which you will work at your own pace through the course over the two months at a time for each masterclass. As these are advanced projects that can take months not weeks to master, we have allowed plenty of time for making multiple sets of all of the projects to hone your craft.

Alongside the professionally filmed videos there will be three live sessions with the masterclass tutors Anelia, Scott and April to help you get any questions answered and learn more about the techniques you are working with as you work through the programme.

Meet the world-class jewellery tutors you will be learning from

SCOTT McINTYRE

Scott McIntyre is a Master Goldsmith and Founding Director of Vanilla Ink Jewellery School & Studios. With over 25 years of experience in the jewellery industry, there isn’t much Scott doesn’t know! After years of working as a jeweller in high-end workshops across Scotland’s Central Belt, he found his calling as a naturally gifted tutor.

Scott is a thorough, deliberate and professional tutor.

Scott is the author of the very popular book ‘Stone Setting’ - so who better to teach you!

ANELIA KUPRINA

Anelia is an award-winning independent London jewellery designer, who combines traditional hand-making techniques with modern technologies to create exquisite jewels.

In the ten years that she has spent in the industry, she has worked for leading UK jewellery companies, West End ateliers and the time-honoured workshops of Hatton Garden. This practical training has endowed her with the skills necessary to be able to expertly manipulate precious metals and infuse meticulous precision into her work. Her signature is bold, innovative and exciting. Anelia jewellery utilises her innate understanding of form and texture with a potent blend of hypnotic colour to create luxurious sculptural masterpieces in miniature form.

APril Dace

April is a jewellery designer, maker and repairer based in Norfolk. After 4 years studying jewellery at university and 5 years working in jewellery workshops around East Anglia, April took the leap to become her own boss working on her bespoke jewellery business, April Dace Jewellery back in 2020, and she’s never looked back! April is a working Mum with twins. She currently works on jewellery commissions from her home workshop, as well as being a bench jeweller carrying out repairs at a local jewellers a few days a week.

frequently asked questions

What jewellery making experience do I need to enrol on the Masterclasses?

The Masterclasses are designed as the perfect follow-on from the Advanced Jewellery Diploma, our year 3 Diploma course.

It is not a requirement that you have completed the Advanced Diploma but your skills must be at an equivalent or higher level in order to make these masterclass projects.

Decorative Collets

To enrol in Decorative Collets you must be a confident collet setter of shaped stones including round, oval and pear shaped. This course focusses on creating the decorative collets and while it does cover how to collet set a hexagon stone, it does not cover skills learn in previous Diploma courses.

Fishtail Setting

To enrol in Fishtail Setting you must have experience and some confidence with pave setting.

Tiara Wedding Ring

This is the most complex of the masterclass projects. You must be confident with claw setting, complex soldering (multiple solder joins in one piece) and working with magnification. You should already be able to confidently make a three claw ring from scratch.

Do I get access to all three masterclasses straight away?

Yes. When you enrol in the bundle, you’ll receive immediate access to all three masterclasses and recordings of previous mentor support calls. You don’t need to wait for a course’s live support stage to begin watching the lessons.

Can I join later when the next masterclass begins?

No. We now have one annual intake, and enrolment will not reopen for the individual live support stages. To join this year’s programme, please enrol by 31st Oct 26.

Do I have to work through the courses in the live support order?

You can explore the recorded lessons at your own pace and in any order. Following the live support programme gives you the opportunity to focus on each course alongside fellow students and ask the expert tutor your questions.

What tools and materials do I need to complete these projects?

The good news is that if you are an advanced level jeweller, you should not need any new tools (or very few additional tools).

When you are learning these techniques, we suggest you work in silver or copper and move onto working with gold when you have built your confidence.
