In this week's episode of the Jewellers Academy podcast, I talk with multi-award-winning jeweller Sally Costen aka The Clerkenwell Jeweller. Sally has completed two of our Diploma courses and is currently a student on the Advanced Jewellery Diploma.
Sally, started her career as a graphic designer, and she shares all about her journey into jewellery making and her creative process, which involves extensive sketching and a love for making quirky and humorous pieces. Sally also talks about her experience applying for (and winning) awards including multiple Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council Awards.
This is an uplifting discussion all about the importance of taking opportunities and overcoming self-doubt. Sally highlights the value of competitions to gain exposure and have professionals assess your work.

about Sally
Sally has been an design agency owner, creative director and creator of award-winning graphics work. This background can be seen in her jewellery designs which reflect a love of graphics, architecture and fashion, sprinkled with humour. Having trained at the London Jewellery School she launched The Clerkenwell Jeweller, where her intricate and stylish jewellery found a home.
She has evolved and refined her collections to reflect her history, loves and values and has won awards along the way including multiple Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council Awards (the ‘Jewellery Oscars’) and the F.Hinds High Street by Design competition.
The Advanced Jewellery diploma
Our exciting 1-Year programme for jewellers who are looking to develop their making skills.
