Breaking Free from Self-Limitations: Overcoming Fear and Imposter Syndrome to Pursue Your Dreams

My team and I have been talking with you about enrolling for an online Diploma in Jewellery course over the last few weeks. And we've come to the conclusion that your worst enemy is .....

Yourself

You're the one standing in the way of trying something new that you really want to do. Because of fear, imposter syndrome, or worry that you are too old or too young.

So I want to give you permission if you need it ✨

Permission to do what you dream of doing. Permission to learn and try new things.

There, you have permission now. It's time to do what you want to do.

Here are some of the questions you've asked and my answers

Am I too old?

Never! While we have some younger students on the Diploma the majority are 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond. We have people with small children and empty nesters. We have people training for their first career and those wanting to start a jewellery business for when they retire from their day job. What you have in common is a love of jewellery and that transcends our age.

I have a busy life. Can I fit the course into it?

Yes. Most of our students are working full-time or are caring for young children and family members. The course is completely flexible. The content is released on a Monday and you can decide when you want to make your project for the week. You don't have to do it all at once, you can spread the tasks out over the week. And we leave some time at the end before the deadline for catch-up in case you have had holiday, been ill etc. This is a part-time course and it is completely do-able.

Am I good enough?

Every master was once a beginner. We have to allow ourselves to be a beginner and start before we can ever hope to master anything. This course is designed to help you build and practice your skills week on week with help and support. You are not supposed to be able to do anything that is covered in the course yet, that is what we will be teaching you.

Does the work I submit for assessment have to be perfect?

No. There is no point in a piece of handmade jewellery that looks like a machine could have made it. When marking your work we take into account that you are making all the projects for the first time.
The pass mark for all the Diploma courses is 60%. You do not need to make perfect jewellery to pass this course. The point of the assessment and feedback is to help you become a better jeweller. It is never about criticism.

We’re all growing and learning all the time so no one expects you to be perfect (except maybe you!)

Enrolment for the Diploma courses closes at midnight tonight, 2nd June 2023. The only thing that works for overcoming fear is to do the thing. Luckily you're not doing it alone x
